Efficiency class (IE)

An international rating (IE2, IE3, IE4) for the energy efficiency of an induction motor.

Higher classes cut running cost and heat. An IE3/IE4 motor of the same frame, speed and mounting is usually a direct replacement for an older IE1/IE2 unit.
